About Us

Prof. Yves Atchade

The FORMES Group, led by Prof. Yves Atchade at Boston University, works at the intersection of statistical theory, environmental science, and machine learning. We develop principled statistical and learning methods to address complex problems in climate dynamics, remote sensing, and ecological monitoring. Our research bridges rigorous mathematical foundations with data-driven insights to advance understanding of environmental systems.

Research Focus

Bayesian Inference and MCMC

Method and theory aspects of Bayesian statistics and Markov chain Monte Carlo.

Statistical modeling with PDEs

Inverse problems with PDEs. Statistical and computational aspects.

Rainfall Prediction in West Africa

Combining physical modeling and deep learning to enhance regional rainfall forecasts.

Remote Sensing

Radiative transfer inverse problems using multi-sensor satellite data.

Join Our Team

The FORMES Group welcomes motivated undergraduate, master's, and PhD students, as well as postdoctoral researchers interested in the intersection of statistical science, machine learning, and environmental applications.
